Words of Wisdom

September 30th

Those students, who did not hand in their composition today, hand it in tomorrow; I will not accept anything after that.

Social Studies – Research and create an Early Aboriginal home. Honour the build/construction by using the proper materials to make it as authentic as possible. Develop a base/ground covering, which will support a tepee of good size (approx. 12 – 16 inches tall?). Feel free to add information and detail to the exterior of the tepee, be as creative as possible. YOU, learn by doing, do it well.

Remember, the suggestions I made in class and the notes you took to support this task. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Due: October 6th

Did you know…

Did you know that reviewing the day’s work before bed each night has shown to improve test scores by a full grade?

Speaking of bed times, sleep is very important to developing children. It is suggested that children aged 10 – 12 require 9 hours of sleep each night. A lack of sleep at this age can lead to irritable and hyper behaviour. Of course, it is up to parents to decide how much sleep their child needs.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.”
